I’m done!….kinda

I’m done!  I’m done!  I’m done!  I finished the last week of the last phase of P90X!  YEAH!  I actually committed to something, stuck to it and finished.  But something happened along the way.  I didn’t just commit and bear through the time period.  I saw changes….in my body…in my mind…in my outlook…many changes.  And,….I want more.  So what did I do?  I went out and bought P90X plus.  Ya know, the next level.  I previewed the workout and I’m in trouble.  But it’s a good trouble if that makes any sense.  It will be another challenge that I will commit to and complete.  This is a new way of life….this working out stuff.  Now I need to eat right…..another post subject.  Until next time.

Week 11…P90X

I love this last phase!  Why?  Well…because I’m almost done…..not really….well,….kinda.  I like that I’m almost finished, but i can tell you now that this is a lifestyle.  My wife and I workout together and we support one another in exercise and meals.  I even bought the next set of dvds…P90X plus.  The other thing I like about thise last phase is the switch up of workouts every week.  One week you do phase one workouts and the next phase two.  My body is not having a chance to adapt and a group of muscles is constantly sore.  Great program!

Week 10 of P90X!!!!

June 3rd, 2008 by admin
Respond

This is the second day of week 10 and I’m TIRED!  Partly because I go to bed as if I’m not going to get up at 5am and workout.  I’ve learned teh hard way that proper rest is very important.  Not just for your physical gains, bet mental too.  It makes it more difficult to get up in the morning when you’re running at a sleep deficit.  I’ve been doing the double workout and planning them can be tough at times.  BUT, you tend to plan that which you really want to do….so, a planning I will go!

Until next time…..

Another rest week!

YEAH! I’ve stuck with it and have noticed results. This is a milestone of sorts. I’ve made it through the first two phases of P90X and am in the rest week prior to the third phase. Don’t be mislead though. Rest week is not really rest, but just more cardio, different core and total body exercises. Believe me…..THIS IS NOT REST!

I’ve been doing double and this week is gving my mind a little break because doubles increases to 4 days per week in the third phase. The third phase also lasts a bit longer….four weeks then a rest week instead of three then a rest week.

I’ll be ready!

The Results are in….

It’s cool to stick to something and actually see results. So many times I have started an exercise program and skipped a day or two, which leads to three and then I just quit. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t been doing P90X for years, but it just feels different. One of the things that keeps me going is seeing the results. I’ve lost a little weight, but I can notice it more by the way my clothes fit and how I feel. I also get positive comments from people I haven’t seen in a while. It’s nice…and motivating. So, what are the results? Feeling stronger, looking better, feeling better, positive comments, replacing fat with muscle and still dropping weight. P90X is a great program! I highly recommend it!

The Closing of Week Five of P90X

May 2nd, 2008 by admin
Respond

It’s Friday of week five doing P90X…..and I’ve been bringin’ it.  Talk about sore and tired.  Not only is this phase new, but I started double this phase.  So, three times per week I will also add a cardio X.  I’ve in creased my intake of protein and have seen the weight start to drop.  Funny thing is it has actually become a habit to wake up and workout in the mornings…..and i like it.  Don’t get me wrong.  many times the alarm goes off at 5:02 am and I just want to sleep, but the likin’ it comes in the form of a sense of accomplishment afterwards.  the other cool benefit is that my blood pressure has dropped about 10 points.  No medicine for this ex fat dude.

I’ll be posting again soon.

P90X…..start of fourth week

April 22nd, 2008 by admin
Respond

Well, 3 weeks down and I started my fourth week.  I was under the ASSumption this was to be more of a rest week.  Ya know, hit it hard for 3 weeks, mild for one and then pick it up hard again.  BUT NO!  Mr. Tony Horton and his smilin’ self had other plans.  This “off” week is just different, but still difficult.  I did core synergistics this morning and cam the closest I have in this program to puking.  It didn’t even seem that hard at first and then it became more intense and then…..well,…..let’s just say I wanted to blow chunks, but finally got my marbles intact again.  But, in a weird way, I really liked this workout.  It worked me hard, but differently.  I’m really liking the switchup and the organization of the workouts.  Good job Beachbody!

Week 3 begins

I started week three today….chest and back…..and brought it.  It’s 4:24p and I’m still whooped from my workout this morning.  I feel like my body is starting to really go into that change mode…..I hope.  It’s as if my body is saying, “Oh here he goes again.  Working out for a few days, then quitting.  What?  Three weeks?  Oh crap, we better adapt and change to meet these new demands.”  Ab Ripper can be tough when you work hard in the regular workout.  I felt a bit sick in the first workout and any time I felt a burn in Ab Ripper it made me feel sick more.  Any suggestions?

One week down…..

April 9th, 2008 by admin
Respond

I just completed my full week of P90X. Yeah! I can’t believe how tired I am. The cool thing is I already feel a little tighter……or at least think I do. Let me review the days/workouts real quick.

  • Chest and Back:  Tough, made me feel a little ill. I just did my second chest and back this morning. I did considerably better and really brought it. I felt a little sick to my stomach a couple times, but nothing too bad.
  • Plyometrics:  I like this, even though it’s difficult. Basically, it makes you work. With all these exercices you have a decision to make…..bring it or dog it…..and you know the difference.
  • Shoulders and Arms:  Tough, but not as tough as chest and back.  I think it’s because the muscles aren’t as big……but still tough.
  • Yoga:  All of a sudden I’m sweating from stretching and trying to hold poses…..unbelievable.  I may have sweat more on this workout than any other.  It’s longer than the other workouts….approx. 1.5 hours, but hey, if it’s what I need, then so be it.
  • Legs and back:  Pullups and squats and every other way to break down your back and legs.  I’m starting to get callouses from all the pullups.  Yeah!  I feel like I’m really working out again.
  • Kenpo:  I good aerobic workout.  Never thought I’d be this uncoordinated, especially in a guy type of thing like punching.  But, I’m training and ready to enetr the ring…yeah right!
  • X stretch:  I decided to stretch instead of taking the day off.  It’s kinda what I thought yoga might be like.  I’m gald I did this because it really loosened my body and removed the lactic acid.
  • Ab Ripper:  This is tagged on the end of the first, third and fifth day.  I just completed it for the fifth time this morning.  It’s still difficult, but I’m getting better.

Sore to the Core!

Respond

I can’t believe how sore I am.  My chest hurts. My ribs hurt. My arms hurt.  Today is my second day and I did plyometrics this morning.  That was tough.  I have much room to improve and don’t see myself outgrowing this program.  And to think……tomorrow I have to do shoulders, arms and abs AGAIN!  But,  I’ll keep showing up and pushing play!
